Centurion Services has what homeowners need to stay healthy and safe from the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).  In order to better equip you for preventative measures, take a look below for different things to know to help stop the spread of the disease in your home.

It is imperative to know what kinds of disinfecting agents are able to kill the bacteria that spread COVID-19.  Cleaning solutions like diluted household bleach, solutions with more than 70% alcohol, and most EPA-registered household disinfecting wipes or sprays — like those with emerging viral pathogens — are effective in eliminating the bacteria of the disease.

To properly dilute household bleach, mix:

  • Five (5) tablespoons (1/3 cup) of bleach per gallon of water.
  • (Or four [4] teaspoons of bleach per quart of water)

While cleaning areas of your home, remember to use protective, preferably disposable, gloves — especially when handling chemicals like household bleach.  Once you have completed your cleaning, make sure to dispose of the gloves, and wash your hands immediately.

Cleaning areas where hands touch regularly — door and cupboard handles, sink faucets, toilet seats and handles, light switches, TV remotes, cellphones and tablets, laptops and desktops, etc. — is critical to stopping the spread of COVID-19.  By continuing to limit consistent transmission of the disease, regular touchpoint cleaning should coexist with disinfectants on surfaces we use regularly — kitchen and bathroom counters, coffee tables, stair railings, kids’ play areas, microwave and appliance keypads, etc.

Making sure our hands are clean and free of germs regularly throughout the day can significantly reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, as well.  Wash hands for 20 seconds under warm water with soap, and make sure to scrub in-between fingers and around the knuckles.  Make sure to do this immediately after interacting with someone who is or observed to be unwell.

You should wash your hands regularly, but especially when:

  • Using the restroom
  • After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
  • Before and after eating or preparing food
  • Before and after caring for another person (i.e. a child or the elderly)
  • After contact with animals and pets
